The midlife crescendo | Community, nature & reinventing yourself | Nechumah Getz
from Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO
In this episode of the Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO Podcast, I chatted with Nechumah Getz to explore life, leadership and business from the inside out, and this conversation became a beautiful reflection on reinvention, identity and the human need for connection. After more than 25 years in leadership roles, including serving as a COO, Nechumah experienced two layoffs in two years. At the same time, she was navigating the deeper transitions of midlife: children leaving home, changing friendships, hormonal shifts, changing priorities and the realisation that the built-in community many women once relied on no longer naturally exists at this stage of life. What emerged from that experience was Better Outside Together, an outdoor community designed to help women reconnect through movement, nature and real conversation.Nechumah described this phase of life as the “midlife crescendo.” I related, given I am 48 and turning 49 years old this year, it is not a time of decline and certainly not the ending. Instead a crescendo, a moment to pause, where everything rises to the surface at once and asks us to pay attention. We spoke about how many women quietly reach this chapter and realise they no longer know where they fit.I loved how Nechuma brought it back to nature, less as fitness or productivity, instead as regulation, release and reconnection. We also explored the biological need for community, as something humans are fundamentally wired for. In a world becoming increasingly digital, isolated and AI-driven, this conversation felt like an important reminder that healing often happens in the simplest moments: outside, walking, talking, breathing and being witnessed by other people. The Shape Shift in motionAt the heart of this conversation was a shift from isolation and identity loss, to connection, movement and rediscovering self. This is how that shift unfolded through the Bee Formless™ methodology:LEARN (Letting go)✨ Community no longer arrives automatically in midlife✨ Loneliness impacts the body, mind and nervous system✨ The version of you that once fit may no longer alignUNLEARN (Reimagine, create & reshape)✨ Unlearn the idea that midlife means decline✨ Reimagine movement as healing and connection✨ Reshape community through honesty and shared experienceRELEARN (Test & implement)✨ Join something, even when it feels uncomfortable✨ Walking and conversation can become active recovery✨ Nature creates space to reconnect with yourselfACTIVE RECOVERY (Reflect & reset)✨ What part of yourself is asking to be rediscovered?✨ Where are you craving deeper connection?✨ What if this chapter is not an ending, though a return to yourself?About Nechumah GetzFounder of Better Outside Together.Where to find more from Nechumah🔗 https://www.linkedin.com/in/nechumah-getz🌐 https://betteroutsidetogether.com💭 What if midlife is not where life closes down, though where you finally begin listening to yourself differently? If something is shifting for you in direction, culture, leadership or growth, start with a Strategic Shape Shift:https://calendly.com/beeformless/strategicshapeshiftdiagnostic#midlife #community #reinvention #lifeleadershipbusiness #humanconnection #beeformless #flowdrivenceo
