The Mind: A Silent Killer

from Awkward Menage Hosted by Nibor Smailliw

Why does speaking properly, using proper grammar, and big words equate to one trying to "be white," within the black community. When did being an educated, or at least, sounding like an educated person of color become something to look down upon? There's also the issue of Mental Health in the black community. Too often it's swept under the rug instead of addressed. It's a cycle that needs to be broken, and a topic we all need to learn to take seriously. There are so many resources availabe for pre-screening and symptoms that we've provided a few down below. Learn the different types of mental illness and take a test or two if you think you may be on the verge or over the line for mental health. Most importantly: SEEK HELP if you feel you need it! Mental Health America: https://screening.mentalhealthamerica.net/ National Alliance on Mental Illness: https://www.nami.org/ Healthy Place: https://www.healthyplace.com/ We've also featured several tracks this evening. The first two being from Monica MoMo Roberts from CampPhire Connection off her album 'eMoMotional' titled "Ups and Downs" as well as Sparkling Madness. Bandcamp: https://campphireconnection.bandcamp.com/album/emomotional MoMo Robers FB Profile: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1372253789 We also have two tracks from JFK (Joint Force Kings.) The first is an introductory poem to the track "Regin On Me" vocalized by group member Logic. We also end the episode with the track "Beautiful Things," off the album 'Necessary Assassination.' Openly Terrified Evan Van Helden Hey hey, and welcome to Openly Terrified! I’m Evan—socially awkward, emotionally chaotic, and somehow still choosing to talk into a mic. This little podcast is basically a live-stream of my brain, where all my weird thoughts come to hang out and stretch their legs. Despite being a professional introvert, something about rambling here makes my soul do a happy little dance. So if you’re into overthinking, oversharing, or just vibing in a judgment-free zone—stick around. I saved you a metaphorical beanbag chair. Explicit Don't Blame Me! Meghan Rienks and Melisa D. Monts Don’t Blame Me is the weekly advice and pop culture podcast hosted by Meghan Rienks and Melisa D. Monts.
