The Mirror of Confrontation - Cara Miller & Logan Gelbrich - Episode 59

from weMove Podcast · host weMove

Hey there and welcome to this weeks weMove podcast and this is the second podcast from our 2019 US trip. For those new to listening our intention with the podcast and the publications is to inspire and nurture through movement but more often than not we realise that movement is just a tool to strip away the layers of our identity in order to get to our true potential. This episode started off in the movement space with our friendship with one of the guests that has led on to a deeper understanding of what he is building in the physical culture space with his growing number of gyms, strengthening culture and thriving community, and more importantly the principles behind it. Because the principles enable us to go beyond what we thought was possible, and going beyond rarely goes in the way we have been told to expect it and what we talk about in this episode is no different. In San Diego we sat down on the comfy seats of Cara Millers office with Logan Gelbrich to talk why constructive criticism won’t move the needle and seeking the parts of us that lets us down and working on them will, shining a light on our weaknesses and those of others in our team in an open and supportive culture to accelerate us towards our goals. Logan Gelbrich is founder of Deuce Gym and Cara Miller, developmental coach, organisational consultant and leadership designer has worked with Logan since Deuce was an idea creating a culture which is way more than a gym, it is a community and culture sitting smack bang in the middle of performance, community lifestyle intersection. This is about how there is so much more growth to be gained by closing the gap on something you are not good at rather than how much growth you can gain by incremental gains on something you are already good at. It pays to focus on the thing that gives you consistent growth and development. The caveat being Honesty, radical transparency and commitment are non negotiable. There are layers in this and a myriad of connections to other episodes, most notably the Jami Tikkanen episode. Enjoy, share, spread the word and thanks for listening.
