IMDb   Director: Irving Pichel, Ernest B. Schoedsack Writer: James Ashmore Creelman (screenplay), Richard Connell (from the O.Henry prize-winning collection story by; Collier's, January 19, 1924) Cast Joel McCrea as Robert "Bob" Rainsford Fay Wray as Eve Trowbridge Leslie Banks as Count Zaroff Robert Armstrong as Martin Trowbridge Noble Johnson as Ivan Steve Clemente as Tartar Oscar 'Dutch' Hendrian as Servant (as Dutch Hendrian) William B. Davidson as Captain James Flavin as First Mate (uncredited) Hale Hamilton as Bill - Owner of Yacht (uncredited) Landers Stevens as 'Doc' - Passenger on Yacht (uncredited) Phil Tead as Passenger on Yacht (uncredited) Filmed during the production of King Kong (1933) on some of the same sets with many of the same cast and crew, The Most Dangerous Game tells what has become a very familiar story. Joseph describes the film as being lean, mean, and very well-paced with a story that has become entrenched in popular culture, even as an episode of Gilligan's Island. Whitney read the original story in fifth grade so seeing the tale play out in The Most Dangerous Game is a treat. She also lauds the addition of a female character, played by Faye Wray, to the story. The Most Dangerous Game is reminiscent of a Saturday afternoon matinee for Daphne and she really liked it. Jeff loves the melodramatic flair of Leslie Banks' performance as Zaroff and has always been a big fan of Joel McCrea, Faye Wray, and Noble Johnson, so The Most Dangerous Game is right up his alley. The Most Dangerous Game is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime and HBOmax and as physical media on Blu-ray from Flicker Alley.  Gruesome Magazine's Decades of Horror: The Classic Era records a new episode every two weeks.
