Dr. Jennifer Bryson joins the Tangent to discuss the life of Ida Görres, the author of Bread Grows in Winter. Dr. Jennifer Bryson earned a BA from Stanford University in Political Science, an MA from Yale University in History, and a PhD from Yale in Greco-Arabic and Islamic Studies from the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. As an undergraduate at Stanford, she studied Marxism-Leninism for two semesters at the Karl Marx University in the former East Germany. Dr. Jennifer S. Bryson is a Fellow in Catholic Studeies at the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC) in Washington, DC. She is currently translating and studying works by the Catholic authors Ida Friederike Görres (1901–1971), Joseph Görres (1776–1848), Joseph Ratzinger (later Pope Benedict XVI), and Oda Schneider (1892–1987) from German to English.
