The MTBPS and difficult decisions

The Minister of Finance delivers the mini-budget speech tomorrow and there is pressure that the figures and the story must live up to the optimism about the Government of National Unity. The MTBPS is about the three-year rolling budget and the Minister must make us believe that he can successfully consolidate the budget deficit and the national debt. A lot of sensible things have been said about what his tax revenues look like, what pressure there is for spending, how important his economic growth forecast is, etc. But the question to ask if the GNU is ready to make difficult decisions.
