The MyEntWord Podcast: Star Wars

from My Entertainment World

It’s been almost a month since Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit theatres and the money just keeps rolling in. The film made a billion dollars in its first 12 days and is set to overtake Titanic to become the second-highest grossing film of all time. More importantly, though, it’s actually a good movie! Well, it’s a pretty good movie. A noteworthy movie, in any case. Personally, I enjoyed The Force Awakens entirely as a standalone sci-fi action film. I know basically nothing about the Star Wars universe and didn’t even see the film until most of the major hullaballoo had died down. So I knew I needed backup if I was going to podcast about it and there was no one on my list other than my good friend Andrew Patti. A Star Wars superfan, Andrew was the person who explained to me the “Han shot first” debate (I never saw the original trilogy after Lucas started messing with them). He’s been known to wax poetic on the significance of the twin setting suns on Tatooine and stand up for Return of the Jedi when everyone declares that Empire Strikes Back is obviously the best. Despite life-long fandom, he’s just irreverent and scientifically minded enough to complain that the classic “pew pew” sounds are nonsense because “there’s no sound in space!”. He had well over an hour’s worth of thoughtful, informed observations about the film, interrupted by my wildly insightful queries about the actors’ accents. This podcast is packed with spoilers and comes with a (very mild, but still) language warning, just so you know. CLICK HERE to subscribe to the podcast on iTunes The post The MyEntWord Podcast: Star Wars appeared first on My Entertainment World.
