The Neon Jazz David Bowie Tribute - Show #315 on 1.21.16
from Neon Jazz KC · host Neon Jazz KC
And taking the proverbial jazz curtain call on this hour of music together comes from the legendary David Bowie who unexpectedly lost a battle to cancer and left us on January 10, 2016 – and his final album Blackstar – was a jazz infused album .. and it happened like this ... One Sunday night in the spring of 2014, Bowie walked into the 96-year-old jazz joint 55 Bar in New York’s West Village and saw the night's headliner, a quartet led by saxophonist Donny McCaslin. He took in the set and ten days later Donny got an email from Bowie wanted him and his drummer Mark Guiliana to join him in the studio .. and with that, the jazz was his swan song .. We give you Dollar Days off this 2016 parting music gift from a pure artistic genius and one of the most humble, funny and cool cats to ever walk this planet .. Thanks Ziggy ..
