The Paradox of Palm Sunday, by Rev. Dr. Shelly Wood

from OPMH Sermon Podcast · host Old Presbyterian Meeting House

The people really wanted someone to come and save them. They wanted a king to conquer their oppressors. What they got was a man riding on a donkey, who ate with sinners, drew in the sand, and welcomed the children. It was a makeshift parade of peasants who cut branches off of trees and placed their dirty coats on the ground. On the other side of town, the empire came on their magnificent horses, their golden shields gleaming the sunlight, their swords clinking at their sides. One parade dignified and regal. The other was rather pathetic and simple. Which parade would you attend? This is part of our weekly sermon and scripture series. Previous and upcoming services can be found in our playlist.
