Love Persevering, by Rev. Dr. Shelly Wood
The meaning of Easter is not about bunnies and eggs, baked ham and chocolate. Easter is not easy. It is the story of a miracle that we do not fully understand, or can fully comprehend. It’s the story of grief. What is grief? It is love persevering. This is part of our weekly sermon and scripture series. Previous and upcoming services can be found in our playlist. The Paradox of Palm Sunday, by Rev. Dr. Shelly Wood
The people really wanted someone to come and save them. They wanted a king to conquer their oppressors. What they got was a man riding on a donkey, who ate with sinners, drew in the sand, and welcomed the children. It was a makeshift parade of peasants who cut branches off of trees and placed their dirty coats on the ground. On the other side of town, the empire came on their magnificent horses, their golden shields gleaming the sunlight, their swords clinking at their sides. One parade dignified and regal. The other was rather pathetic and simple. Which parade would you attend? This is part of our weekly sermon and scripture series. Previous and upcoming services can be found in our playlist. Living Water, by Rev. Dr. Shelly Wood
Jesus talks longer to the woman at the well than he does to anyone else in all of the gospels. Longer than he talks to any of his disciples. She is the first person he reveals himself to in the gospel of John. Who is this nameless woman? This is part of our weekly sermon and scripture series. The Night Walker, by Rev. Dr. Shelly Wood
Nicodemus came in the night to get answers to the questions that everyone assumed he already knew. He came in the night so his colleagues would not see him going to Jesus. It must have taken courage for this esteemed Pharisee to seek understanding from Jesus.
