The permanent impact of a parent's opinion
from Tea With George · host George Caylor, Diane Gruber, Steve Putney
The Impact of ParentsIt has been fun sharing these guest spots with my parents. They get tosee aspects of my life that schedules and distance have prevented andit lets them see life from my perspective. After sharing some of the spots, my dad, who was an auctioneer, started reminiscing on how I would, as a child, take the PA system orthe tape recorder and babble. He has a story about me trying toemulate the auctioneer cadence and he loves to regale listeners withthat tale. After hearing some of the recent spots, he again startedretelling the old stories.I am sure that his encouragement contributed in no small way to mytime in radio back in the 80’s and even to these guest spots, but twothings really hit me as I listened to his time worn tales. Parents reallyDO help define us even if we pursue paths very different from theirs. The second thing was how proud I was to hear HIM expressing pride inme. Little things we do for our kids can and do have lasting impact. Sponsored by the Caylor Group Wealth Management in Lynchburg, VA.
