Greg McElroy, Joel Klatt and Roman Harper all put a ceiling on Pete Golding's first Ole Miss team this month. Then Golding walked to a podium with a top-ten roster and was harder on his own team than any of them were. McElroy, ranking Ole Miss No. 11: "I don't know if an 11-1 or a 10-2 is likely. 9-3 feels more realistic with some of the teams they're having to face." Klatt, ranking them No. 16: "with replacing Kiffin and the tough schedule, Ole Miss is at the bottom of this tier." Roman Harper, to Chase Daniel: "They're not winning the (National Championship). They're Ole Miss. You'll learn, you'll come around." Golding has never coached a full season as a head coach — that's a real unknown, and the schedule is exactly as hard as the doubters say.
