Expectation refers to the anticipation or belief about a particular outcome or event in the future. It is a mental projection or assumption about what is likely to happen based on our past experiences, knowledge, beliefs, or desires. Expectations can be conscious or subconscious and play a significant role in shaping our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and decision-making processes. The term "power of expectations" describes how strongly our ideas and presumptions about the future, or a specific circumstance may affect our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and results. Our views, interactions, and overall experiences in a variety of areas of life, such as interpersonal relationships, academic achievement, the workplace, health, and other areas, can all be influenced by expectations. When we hold strong expectations about a certain outcome, we tend to act in ways that align with those expectations. This behavior can lead to the outcome actually occurring, confirming our initial beliefs, and creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.
