We give words immense power, and in the process we lose sight of action. Even though actions speak louder than words, we tend to forget that all together. We forget that in our relationships and within ourselves. We listen to what people tell us and we forget to see if they follow it up with action. There’s a tendency of finding ourselves in friendships and relationships that push our boundaries, if we have any to begin with. The relationships that we feel are true love may be a trauma bond instead. People we know may use manipulation and gaslighting to get what they want from us, keeping us confused as to what is really happening in the relationship. Some people know how powerful their words are and use profanity or racial slurs to depict their feelings, causing pain and sadness. Others realize the power they have and use the silent treatment to hurt others by cutting communication entirely making the other person feel in prison. When a spouse tells you every time you have an argument that they want a divorce.
