As a species we humans have evolved to overweight losses and underweight gains. If I were to take $5 from you the emotion reaction would be far greater in magnitude than if I gave you $5. We are loss averse which is problematic both from our negative reactions when we lose and their magnitudes. However if we reframe our losses are costs in the greater scheme of things its a rather powerful tool to go further and be happier.
