The promise of an eternal kingdom ruled by a royal descendant was not a small promise, but a foundational one that shaped the hope of a nation. They saw many kings come and go through the generations that failed to worship God and rule with justice. Instead, they worshipped manmade idols and used their power to crush the powerless. Sadly, as their kings turned awayfrom God, so did the people they ruled.
