Professor Alwyn Louw- Monash South Africa’s President and Academic President (InStudio)Historically, three stakeholders primarily influenced innovation and economic development in society. These stakeholders, included in the so-called Triple Helix, were identified as the university, industry and government. In this model, the collaboration among the three role players was envisaged to facilitate knowledge creation and innovation. However, as the world shifts, the understanding of the processes and creation of innovation has also changed and community involvement and collaboration is now keyObjective -To educate listeners on the “revolution” in the role universities need to play in and with society in order to bring innovation, opening up their doors and giving insight and become adaptable. Universities need to once again become the heart of a society, a knowledge market place, which will attract people that need each other to help innovate and solve the challenges we face as a society today.
