In Parshat Vayeira, Avraham Avinu pleads with Hashem to spare Sodom, using the strange phrase ho’alti ledaber—“I have begun” or “I want to speak.” This word ho’alti hints to ratzon, the deep will and yearning that connects us to Hashem even when logic fails. Avraham’s usage of this term in his dialogue unfolds through the numbers 45, and 20—each revealing a secret about the Keter, the Divine crown of will, and the Nine Chambers formed through spiritual setback and renewal. Through these mysteries, Avraham teaches that even when the world collapses around us, the power of ratzon and joy can draw Hashem’s light back into our lives.
