Originally music was about being cool and being famous. After a shift in my thinking and I realised music wasn’t there to make me into something, music was something I had to do and it made me happy. If you have a good band and good songs you have what you need then there is an element of luck and I just want to see how far we can go. We are currently in the process of writing a new album. I was horrified and disgusted by what happened to George Floyd but it has started a debate that needed to happen. As a human being, you have to mourn the loss of another human being in this way. If you have experienced discrimination you understand and have some empathy but if you haven’t you can’t see what the problem is. If you think that it’s not your problem then you are part of the problem My hope is that it will bring change my worry is that we’ll be having the same conversation in a year’s time. We need to teach the people who have the privilege to understand by being open and talking about it. We don’t need to go back to where we were before, my hope is that 2020 will be the year we changed the future.
