"The recognition of Palestine (as a state) is a step in the right direction"- Belgium's Ambassador to SA, Paul Jansen says what is happening in Gaza is 'unacceptable'

from Update@Noon · host SAfm

Belgium has become the latest country to announce plans to recognise Palestinian statehood at this month's United Nations General Assembly. Britain, France, Australia and Canada have already made similar announcements, with the Israeli government describing the recognition of a Palestinian state as a win for Hamas. Belgium's Foreign Minister, Maxim Prevot says he hopes this declaration will further pave the way for a two-state solution, where a Palestinian state could coexist alongside Israel. For more on this, Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Belgium's Ambassador to South Africa, Paul Jansen
