The Refining of Chef Chad Gelso: From Pittston to Europe, Hell’s Kitchen, and Home Again. | Ep.103

from DiMattia's Food Fight Podcast

This week on DiMattia’s Food Fight, I sit down with Chef Chad Gelso of The Refinery. We talk about growing up in the Oregon section of Pittston, leaving America after high school to travel and work throughout Europe, and learning from chefs and kitchens along the way. From there, Chad takes us through his years in Philadelphia’s food scene before eventually returning home to NEPA to help elevate dining in his hometown. As a longtime fan of Hell’s Kitchen, I was especially curious about his experience on the show, and Chad gives us a behind-the-scenes look at what it was really like competing under Gordon Ramsay. Most importantly, we talk about the role food plays in our lives. Food brings people together. It creates memories, celebrates milestones, comforts us during difficult times, and connects us to our families, cultures, and communities. It’s a conversation about food, family, travel, hard work, and finding your way back home.
