The Right to Lie?

The idea that governments have a “right” to lie is not new it goes back to Plato and later thinkers like Nietzsche, who argued that truth is dangerous or even nonexistent, and that rulers must manage society through deception. This view rests on a deeper belief: if there is no God, there is no truth, no good or evil only power. In such a world, the state plays god by lying “for our good.” Scripture stands in direct opposition. God is the God of truth, and His law forbids false witness (Exod. 20:16). To lie is not just disobedience; it is practical atheism. Christian faith affirms not the right to lie, but the right of truth and its inevitable triumph.
