The Right Way to Judge

The week Donnie talks about how to judge others, and it starts by debunking the idea that judging others is always wrong. Jesus was not saying never to judge but telling us how to judge correctly. The Bible teaches us to judge those within the church but not those outside of it. Jesus uses an illustration of something in someone's eye to represent sin. He tells us to first take the plank out of our own eye before trying to remove the speck from our brother's eye. In other words, we should take care of our own sins before calling out others for theirs. We tend to exaggerate the faults of others and minimize our own. We live in a judgmental world, where everyone judges everyone else. It's easy to write a bad review or judge someone without knowing their situation. The sermon encourages us to judge rightly, taking into account our own faults and those of others, with a heart of humility and love.
