The Sacrifice Performed by Dakṣa | SB 4.7.14 - 43 | Govardhan Readings#9 | 30 Oct 2023

from Sound Bhakti · host Vaisesika Dasa

There's a story about Prabhupāda, whether it's apocryphal or not or enhanced, I'm not sure, but one devotee recounted it, I think it's in a Memories of Prabhupāda. He said that Prabhupāda was praying intensely before the Deity, and later on, his servant asked him, "Do you mind me asking what you were praying for?" Prabhupāda said, "To not fall down to material nature." Then then the devotee allegedly responded, "But a pure devotee never falls down." And Prabhupāda said, "That is why! Because the devotees is always praying like that." There's an example of that in Prahlāda Mahārāja's prayers, where he says, "trasto ’smy ahaṁ kṛpaṇa-vatsala duḥsahogra-" He's talking about how everyone was afraid of Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva. That's why they pushed Prahlāda forward and said, "You talk to him." Even Lakṣmī, his wife, thought like, "Who is this person?" And then Prahlāda said, "I'm not afraid of you. I'm afraid of your Viṣṇu Māyā, that's what I'm afraid of. I'm afraid niṣpīḍyamānam upakarṣa vibho prapannam—I'm afraid of getting reabsorbed into the material energy." He said it's like a big wheel. "You are caught in it and he said, "I'll get ground up by the wheel." So devotees should be fearful. I was just writing about that this morning because in the 10th Canto, second chapter, there's a series of purports about fear, and it's in relationship to Devakī's fear of Kaṁsa. She was constantly afraid. Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura says this fear of material association is purifying. He says the ṣaḍ-garbha asuras represent kāma, krodha, lobha, mada, moha, and mātsarya, and that they were killed one after another, which was symbolic. It actually happened, but it's also symbolic of the way in which, when we're afraid of material nature, we burn up our last attachments to it. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Spanish with Levi Levi Flint 🎙️ Welcome to Spanish with Levi — formerly Mexican Fluency.I’m Levi — a gringo with a Master’s in Teaching Spanish — and I’m here to help you understand and sound more Mexican when you speak.Alongside my Mexican wife, Renata, I share practical tips, immersive stories, and real conversations to help you build fluency and speak with confidence.📅 New episodes every week:• Tuesdays: Smarter ways to study Spanish• Thursdays: Immersive content — stories, scene breakdowns, and interviewsExplore my courses, blog, and more at SpanishWithLevi.com📱 Follow me on social: @SpanishWithLevi Newsic – The sound of the headlines Newsic Team Newsic – The sound of the headlines.
