Until she falls asleep again. That night, Rose confronts Morpheus in the Dreaming and is ready to sacrifice herself to save her friends and brother, but they are joined by Unity Kincade and Lucienne.They inform Morpheus it was Unity who should have been this era’s Vortex and Unity convinces Rose to transfer the Vortex into her, allowing her to sacrifice her life for Rose’s. Morpheus realises that Unity’s golden eyed man who impregnated her while she was with sleeping sickness was Desire, who planned to pass the Vortex to her descendant in an attempt to have Morpheus spill family blood.Morpheus confronts Desire, warning them and Despair against further scheming.
