THE SAVING POWER OF GOD’S WISDOM

In Paul's view there are ultimately only two kinds of wisdom, the wisdom of the world (or of man) and the wisdom of God. In 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 the Apostle develops his thesis by showing that only the wisdom of God is able to bring people to a knowledge of the true and living God. While the wisdom of man can help us know things about God it can never provide us with the means of knowing God Himself. What are these means? We consider three primary means, namely, the Spirit of God, the Scriptures from God and the Saviour who is God.
