The Software Marketplace Has A Problem, Lets Talk About It

from IO Bound Podcast · host Vaughn Nugent

I have a concern that the marketplace for modern software is over capacity, that is user's daily active time is already at a dysfunctional high. That means your application must be built with unrealistic goals. Most modern developers must complete with “Big Tech” and their resources, making it nearly impossible for independent developers to produce a compelling product, but also act completely in their user's best interests in regards to their privacy, security, and overall support. If an application desires the largest user base, it's probably going to make some compromises. I believe every person and corporation is incentive based and I pine for a cautious development in the modern software marketplace. As I mentioned at the start, I only plan to sprinkle this type of opinion discussion when I have something on my mind that I feel needs some attention. I thank you for listening, and if you have any feedback we'd love to hear it. We are concerned for the state of the modern software marketplace and the incentives that often cause companies and developers to compromise the user's best interests for the sake of usage.
