A fisherman who walked on water and sank. A disciple who declared Jesus the Messiah and then tried to stop him from dying. A friend who swore loyalty to the death and then denied he knew the man three times before the rooster crowed. Peter was not a hero. He was the first disciple called and the first to speak when no one else would speak. He was also the one Jesus called Satan when he refused to accept the cross. After the resurrection, Jesus did not ask Peter for an apology. He asked a question three times, once for each denial: Do you love me? The question was not for Jesus. It was for Peter.
