Amos became an unsung hero because he accurately foretold the destruction of the Northern Kingdom of Israel. He was also named the prophet of doom. Amos was from the south part of Israel. The Lord called him to prophesy to the Northern Kingdom of Israel—a calling he did not expect but which he obediently fulfilled. Gods message to Amos was. the Israelites are going to face divine intervention as oppression was running rampant in Israel.
