The Table Knife ☂️

Today we needed to remove a switch plate to install a new light. The ideal tool, a flathead screwdriver, wasn’t available. So creativity stepped in.I opened the kitchen drawer, picked up a simple table knife, and it worked perfectly. Flat, easy to use, accessible. It did the job.That made me wonder how often we let the name of a tool define its purpose.A table knife was designed to cut food, spread butter, and be part of a meal. That is its intended purpose. Yet today, for a few moments, it became a screwdriver.How many times in life do we allow what we do to define who we are?We were created to love and to bring light into the world. How that calling is fulfilled is not limited to one role, one title, or one occupation.The same Creator who designed you can use you in different ways, in different seasons, and in different places. Sometimes you may be a table knife. Sometimes you may become a screwdriver.The tool may change, but the One using it never does.So don’t become attached to the label. Be available to the Hand that holds you.You may discover that your greatest purpose is not in what you were expected to be, but in allowing God to use you however He chooses.Because in the hands of the Master, the value of the tool is not determined by its label, but by its willingness to be used.In the right Hands, even a table knife can do things it was never designed to do. BW
