THE TEMPLE, OUR BODY, AND THE URIM AND THUMMIM

Urim and Thummim in Hebrew means, "lights and perfections". Within the context of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ, we find added meaning to the most often used definition of a Urim and Thummim, being and instrument to translate languages. In the Endowment ceremony we find additional powers and insights to another meaning and use of a Urim and Thummim. We see in the pattern of the Brother of Jared, Aaron and his sons, and other scriptural patterns, that our bodies, as we gather Israel, can also become a type of Urim and Thummim as we enter into covenantal relationship with the Savior in the temple. In the latter days, Zion will come and those who reside in that Holy City will be revelatory beings of light patterned after their Savior, Jesus Christ, who will personally preside and reside in that sacred city.
