The Unity of Shamor and Zachor
from Breslov Therapy · host Meir Elkabas
This class is based on Likutey Moharan Lesson 24:In Parshat VaEtchanan, the Torah says “shamor” (guard Shabbat), while the first account of the Ten Commandments says “zachor” (remember Shabbat). Rashi teaches that Hashem spoke both words simultaneously, revealing that restraint and advancement are not opposites but one spiritual process. Zachor represents running toward Hashem through prayer, Torah and the holiness of Shabbat, while shamor represents accepting limits, setbacks and the command to stop. Rebbe Nachman explains that true growth requires both movements, because the pushback of the Keter creates the vessels for deeper perception through Chochmah, Binah and Da’at. Shabbat embodies this unity: by refraining from weekday activity, a Jew can reach his greatest spiritual heights. The lesson of Shabbat Nachamu is to mourn what was lost while searching through the ashes for what remains, then rebuild with simcha and emunah. For more on this lesson: linktr.ee/breslovtherapy_lesson_24If you have been inspired by this class/lecture please share it with your friends.
