This is an interesting development, seeing a religious institution give its take on a technology that’s reshaping the world. I’ve always believed in God, in Jesus Christ, and in the structure of faith. I don’t push it on others, but for me, having rules, order, and a moral compass is essential. That’s why I find the Vatican’s stance on AI fascinating. They’ve highlighted a few key concerns: AI should not replace human-to-human connection. It should never surpass human intelligence or creativity. It must not interfere with the doctor-patient relationship or give direct medical advice. All valid points. But let’s be real—not everyone is going to follow what the Pope says. AI development is charging full speed ahead because there’s an enormous financial incentive. It’s not just about ethics—it’s about profit and power. Imagine a future where AI creates a supposed utopia—one where people no longer need to work, where everything is provided. Sounds nice, right? But as history and human nature show us, removing challenges removes purpose. People need something to strive for, to push against. Otherwise, we’re just floating in a manufactured bliss, like that movie Bliss with Salma Hayek and Owen Wilson. Or worse—like that Twilight Zone episode where a man thinks he’s in heaven because he wins at everything, only to realize the lack of struggle makes it hell. The reality is, AI is already outpacing human intelligence in many areas—medicine, law, creativity. And once it starts improving itself? We’re in uncharted territory. Rules matter. Just like in my life—whether it’s giving up alcohol, fasting for mental clarity, or setting boundaries—rules keep things in check. But AI has no set rules yet, and the people behind it aren’t necessarily thinking about the greater good. They’re thinking about power, control, and legacy. So where does that leave us? Should AI be used as a tool to amplify human life, or will it become something that controls it? Will we recognize if we’re being manipulated into an illusion of choice?
