The Winter That Wouldn't End · Mossback

Winter came to the high moor that year and forgot to leave. The village of Coldkettle is buried to its windowsills, the fires are burning low, and the whole flock is freezing on the hill. Then a snow-covered giant comes trudging over the white moor — and the very mountain the villagers shoo away turns out to be the one warm thing that can save them. — Mossback, chapter 2 (ages 4–8).
