His research works at the intersection of history and political memory, with special attention to how we remember and reactivate the civil rights movement and other Black freedom struggles. In this conversation, we discuss the place of historical work for political mobilization, the complexity of blackness as an identity in the Black Studies tradition, and the importance of creating spaces of Black memory and of Black study.
