'Thinking Strategically' and 'Bartending'

from The Kathryn Zox Show · host Kathryn Zox

Kathryn interviews leadership expert Julia Sloan PhD, author of "Learning to Think Strategically". The absence of strategic thinkers is a resounding cry echoed around the globe by senior leaders in business, military and government. Dr. Sloan suggests most leaders are entrapped in an outdated, industrial-age mindset when it comes to the approach they use for developing strategic thinkers. Sloan teaches strategic thinking at Columbia University. Kathryn also interviews former bartender and leadership expert Helen Rothberg PhD, author of "The Perfect Mix: Everything I Know About Leadership I Learned as a Bartender". Leading an organization is knowing when to stir or shake things up, blend or serve neat. Dr. Rothberg trains Fortune 500 executives to startup entrepreneurs, based on the management and life lessons she learned from working as a bartender while getting her graduate degrees. Professor of Strategy at Marist College, Dr. Rothberg still makes a mean cocktail.
