However, despite their worship, they did not attain any significant result. To truly receive Siva's grace and realize His essence, one must worship a realized spiritual Guru. Through the Guru’s teachings and guidance, the soul can unite with the consciousness of Siva. To reach that state, a true Guru is essential.The syllable *“Gu”* means darkness, and *“Ru”* refers to the light that dispels that darkness — the hidden light within the darkness. This is why it is said that “Guru” means the one who reveals the hidden light (truth). Similarly, a text that reveals what is hidden is called a *“Marai”* (which means hidden), and *Marai* refers to the Vedas.The *Vedas* represent deep, subtle knowledge — supreme intelligence. Just like botany speaks about plants, and zoology speaks about animals, similarly, the Vedas speak about the truth of existence (*Mei Iyal*) — the spiritual reality.Mei means truth or the ultimate reality. So the Vedas are about truth — the science of the inner self or spirituality. Science too seeks truth — it tries to understand the nature of the Earth, its characteristics, and so on.
