This Habit Makes Others Uncomfortable.

from ADHD in a HURRY! · host Dustin Horvath

How often do you put yourself down? How do you feel when you say or think something negative about yourself? Do you even "jokingly" put yourself down? What is the intended purpose of doing so? Self-talk is becoming a reoccurring theme on this podcast and for good reason. The cycle of negative thoughts, beliefs, and feelings you have about yourself might give you some valuable insight on your overall self-esteem. One quick way to assess this is ask yourself how comfortable are you with complements. That will give you a lot of clear insights as well. This episode of focused on unpacking what self-talk is, what/who is/has been most impactful on how you view and speak to yourself. I also go into what you can do (yes, you CAN do something) about making incremental positive changes whenever you find yourself being overly critical of yourself. I also touch on why self-deprecating humor may be more hurtful than you might realize. However, it's not ALWAYS a bad thing. You just need to know why and how you are going to use, and with whom.
