This Isn’t About Bubble Baths. It’s About Survival.
from The Sacred Care Plan Hosted by Zakiyyah
I didn’t become a nurse just to hand out care plans that ignored the most important parts of us. I became a nurse to save mothers and daughters — women like my mom, who worked herself sick trying to move us forward. But what I learned was painful: the healthcare system was failing us. Our care plans weren’t holistic. They didn’t touch the mental, the emotional, or the spiritual. And it nearly cost me my life. After a 12-hour night shift, I collapsed on my bathroom floor in the middle of a panic attack. My body was screaming what I had been ignoring for years. That’s when I took my first sacred pause. I learned to breathe, to listen, to make space for myself. And in that pause, I realized something had to change — not just for me, but for every woman holding it all together while dismantling her own health in the process. It’s not about bubble baths or face masks. It’s about survival. It’s about protecting your joy, reclaiming your health, and remembering that your life matters. Because you can be a caregiver, a leader, a cycle breaker — but only if you take care of yourself first. Thanks for reading The Sacred Care Plan! This post is public so feel free to share it.
