Thoracic E05: Simulation, Respiratory Motion, and Image Guidance
from RadOnc Smart Review Hosted by Abass Conteh
Welcome back to Rad Onc Smart Review: Thoracic Oncology Edition. Episode 5 moves thoracic radiation from the planning scan to the reality of treating a breathing patient. We examine how simulation, respiratory-motion assessment, treatment position, image registration, beam delivery, and image guidance must describe the same physical situation for the plan to remain trustworthy. The episode provides a safety workflow for choosing a reproducible motion strategy, verifying the target or a justified surrogate, recognizing workflow failure, and escalating when treatment no longer behaves as designed. Throughout, we balance geometric confidence against treatment burden and complexity.
