Three Communities Selected for Biodiversity Conservation Programme

A new Man and the Biosphere Programme initiative is targeting Babonneau, Mabouya Valley and Monchy as models for sustainable living and biodiversity conservation. The programme, led by the Ministry of Agriculture and UNESCO, seeks to demonstrate how communities can make use of natural resources while protecting them for future generations. Residents and educators are being encouraged to share knowledge about the importance of protecting endemic species, wildlife, flora and fauna, with community meetings and schools identified as key avenues for education.
