THRIVE CLIENT Q+A 25TH FEB

from The Keep 'Er Lit Podcast · host Tara Gallagher

Why don’t we count our runs toward our 10,000 daily steps? How can I progress my push-ups? I can barely do two at a time at the moment—what’s the best way to improve? How hard should we be training in our sessions? And when increasing weight, should we drop the reps or approach it differently? What’s the best type of protein powder for low calories? Should I go for whey, diet, or isolate? I struggle with breakfast because I don’t feel hungry in the mornings, and eating early sometimes makes me feel sick. I need a high-protein option that will keep me full for around five hours before lunch, but I find most foods unappealing—except juicy fruit! Do you have any advice or suggestions? Could creatine be a factor in struggling to go to the toilet? I find it harder to stick within my calories when I don’t plan my whole day’s worth of food and snacks. How can I improve this? I’ve lost the drive to do my weights workouts, even though I really love them. I’ve been doing 3–4 Pilates classes instead, but I want to get back into lifting. How can I regain my motivation? I’m struggling a lot with drive in life right now. I’m staying with my sister in Sydney, which I don’t enjoy, and I’m just here doing my tickets to get to WA and work in the mines. I don’t really have any friends here, and while I’d love to go hiking in the Blue Mountains or surfing, it feels a bit rubbish doing it alone. Do you have any advice on how to navigate this? How can I manage being in a calorie deficit when staying in someone else’s house, especially when they love feeding everyone and making sure we leave full? I struggled with this while staying with family—it's not that I wanted the extra food, but I felt bad saying no and bringing attention to the fact that I’m “on a diet.” I’m feeling okay overall. I watched The Dip video because I thought this might come up, and I can feel it creeping in. I felt a bit disheartened after my weigh-in this morning, but I know I need to focus on how good my habits are making me feel rather than just the scale or measurements. Any tips on staying in the right mindset? I’m heading to a festival—four days of camping with limited cooking facilities and a fair bit of eating out. After that, I’ll be on the road for another week exploring WA. Do you have any tips for dry protein foods that don’t need refrigeration? How can I stay on track at the weekends?
