In the middle of his theologically dense, spiritually deep, and eternally evergreen letter to the Ephesian Church, where the Apostle Paul has made sure that his beloved brethren understand their faith in Christ, and the profound nature of what the Cross has actually afforded them, we are treated to a peculiar and important left-turn. All of a sudden, Paul wants to talk about yet another way that the Christian life can be recognized as a differentiated kind of living. He wants to talk to us about our marriages. Not only should individuals who follow Jesus shine like beacons in the night sky, but, when two Christ-following believers decide to commit to one another in Holy Matrimony... it should be a story worth paying attention to. And, in a day and age when marriage is cheap and expendable, what could be more impressive than a THRIVING MARRIAGE?
