The thymus—long dismissed as vestigial in adults—re-emerges as a powerful biomarker of health and therapeutic response.   Two Nature (2026) studies demonstrate that AI-derived thymic health independently predicts all-cause mortality, cardiovascular death, and cancer risk, while also forecasting immunotherapy outcomes across tumor types—performing comparably to PD-L1 and tumor mutation burden.   This reframes aging as an immunologic continuum.
