Tiger Talk Episode 46 10/02/18

from Tiger Talk Podcast by Northeast Mississippi Community College · host Will Kollmeyer, Northeast Mississippi Community College

It's Homecoming Week on the TigerTalk Podcast. In this forty-sixth (46th) episode of the TigerTalk Podcast by Northeast Mississippi Community College, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes the 2018 Homecoming Queen Avaline Morris of Burnsville to the podcast for her initial appearance as the homecoming queen. During her royal duties, Morris talks about the election leading up to her being named Homecoming Queen, her reaction to winning the run-off for queen and what she hopes to see come Thursday night. IN addition to her duties as Homecoming Queen, Morris talks about being one of the college's top students. While taking 21 hours last year, the Burnsville native scored a perfect 4.0 grade point average and was named to the President's List along with being a member of the Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Morris also talks about her time at Northeast and how the iPad initiative has changed her outlook on education. In the second half of the podcast, Kollmeyer welcomes Bryan Mitchell back to the podcast to talk about homecoming and having so many members of the Showband from Tigerland on the homecoming court -- either as a maid or an escort. Mitchell also talks about his preparation for the 10-day stretch from the ICC football game all the way to the Northeast Regional Marching Band Championships at Tiger Stadium on Saturday. Mitchell tells listeners that the number of bands has almost doubled from the previous year with the changing of the date back to the first Saturday in October and goes into detail about how he and the band prepare for such a packed 10-day schedule. Kollmeyer wraps up the podcast with a new addition to the publication -- an extended version of what is coming up on campus that details events happening on and around the Northeast campus in a daily breakdown. It contains one of the most comprehensive lists of events and happenings on campus -- so if you have an event or happening on campus and want it mentioned on the podcast, please reach out. If you haven't subscribed to the podcast, now would be a good time to subscribe to stay up-to-date on all the happenings on the Northeast campuses and hear in-depth interviews with guests each week. 🎙️TigerTalk – where Northeast tells its story, one episode at a time. For those who may have missed an episode, all Northeast TigerTalk episodes are archived at https://nemcctigertalk.simplecast.com.--NEMCC--Information about Northeast Mississippi Community CollegeNortheast Mississippi Community College is a leading educational institution that provides comprehensive academic, technical, and workforce training programs to empower students and promote lifelong learning.
