Tiger Talk Episode 52 11/13/18

from Tiger Talk Podcast by Northeast Mississippi Community College · host Will Kollmeyer, Northeast Mississippi Community College

It's one year full of podcasts as we celebrate Week 52 of the TigerTalk Podcast. We officially kicked off Year Two on the TigerTalk podcast in October but we have reached 52 episodes with our latest edition. In this fifty-second (52nd) edition of the TigerTalk podcast presented by Northeast Mississippi Community College, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes NEMCC's e-Learning coordinator Dr. Kim Harris to the show as she talks about all the advantages of taking online classes through Northeast. Not only do online classes offer flexibility in one's schedule but they are also a way to help get ahead on a person's educational career. Northeast offers two-short term classes (8 weeks) and a traditional 15-week course for students to take advantage of online classes. Registration for Spring 2019 classes is currently underway and classes will start on Tuesday, January 22 (instead of the traditional Monday due to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday). Short-term classes will run from January 22 through March 15 and from March 15 through May 10 while traditional classes run from January 22 until May 3. In the second half of this week's program, Kollmeyer welcomes Booneville native Alec Coats to the podcast to help us celebrate our veterans. Coats, who served in the United States Air Force for five years and is making his transition to the Air Force Reserves in Little Rock, Ark., is in his first semester as a student at Northeast and is taking advantage of everything the college has to offer. In addition to being an engineering student with some of the best faculty in the country, Coats also has his daughter enrolled in the NEMCC Childcare and is a worker in the Student Success Center. Kollmeyer wraps up the podcast with a new addition to the publication -- an extended version of what is coming up on campus that details events happening on and around the Northeast campus in a daily breakdown. It contains one of the most comprehensive lists of events and happenings on campus -- so if you have an event or happening on campus and want it mentioned on the podcast, please reach out. If you haven't subscribed to the podcast, now would be a good time to subscribe to stay up-to-date on all the happenings on the Northeast campuses and hear in-depth interviews with guests each week. 🎙️TigerTalk – where Northeast tells its story, one episode at a time. For those who may have missed an episode, all Northeast TigerTalk episodes are archived at https://nemcctigertalk.simplecast.com.--NEMCC--Information about Northeast Mississippi Community CollegeNortheast Mississippi Community College is a leading educational institution that provides comprehensive academic, technical, and workforce training programs to empower students and promote lifelong learning.
