Tiger Talk Episode 59 01/29/2019

from Tiger Talk Podcast by Northeast Mississippi Community College · host Will Kollmeyer, Northeast Mississippi Community College

In this fifty-ninth (59th) edition of the TigerTalk podcast presented by Northeast Mississippi Community College, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes Student Success Center director Britney Whitley to the podcast as she explains the mission of the Student Success Center and the role that each one of the success coaches play in helping Northeast give every student an opportunity to succeed. Under the umbrella of the Student Success Center in Wright Hall, one will find the Writing Lab, the Testing Lab, the Tutoring Lab, the Co-Lab and the Tiger DEN food pantry. In the Fall 2018 semester, the Student Success Center was able to help approximately 750 students with nearly 80-percent of them retained for the Spring 2019 semester. In the second half of the show, Lady Tiger softball coach Jody Long stops in to give listeners a preview of the upcoming softball season and a brief glimpse into the players to watch. Softball will start this Friday (February 1) against the Jackson State GreenJays in Jackson, Tenn., before playing its first home series of the year just a week later against Jackson State at David M. Carnell Memorial Field at Booneville's Westside City Park. Long reflects on his time at both Harold T. White Field and David M. Carnell Memorial Field in Northeast's final season at both and talks about the new baseball/softball complex being built just across the road from the old field. Kollmeyer wraps up the podcast with a new addition to the publication -- an extended version of what is coming up on campus that details events happening on and around the Northeast campus in a daily breakdown. It contains one of the most comprehensive lists of events and happenings on campus -- so if you have an event or happening on campus and want it mentioned on the podcast, please reach out. If you haven't subscribed to the podcast, now would be a good time to subscribe to stay up-to-date on all the happenings on the Northeast campuses and hear in-depth interviews with guests each week. 🎙️TigerTalk – where Northeast tells its story, one episode at a time. For those who may have missed an episode, all Northeast TigerTalk episodes are archived at https://nemcctigertalk.simplecast.com.--NEMCC--Information about Northeast Mississippi Community CollegeNortheast Mississippi Community College is a leading educational institution that provides comprehensive academic, technical, and workforce training programs to empower students and promote lifelong learning.
