from Tiger Talk Podcast by Northeast Mississippi Community College · host Will Kollmeyer, Northeast Mississippi Community College, Michael H. Miller

This eighty-sixth (86th) episode is all about National Suicide Awareness Month and features not only Northeast's new mental health counselor Kristin Wesson but student Iveyana Smith as well. In the first part of the podcast, Wesson stops in to talk about National Suicide Awareness Month and how different mental illnesses affect the college population. Wesson lists some of the warning signs that people should be on the lookout for as well as what they can do to help. In the second half of the podcast, Smith talks about her struggles early in life and how a chance Wednesday night meeting helped change her life. If it was not for that chance meeting, Smith says she would not be here today. Instead, she has turned to advocacy for mental health and shares her story with anyone that will listen so that they know that they are not alone. Between the segments, Will Kollmeyer gives contact information for the Northeast Counseling Center and the National Suicide Help Line (1-800-273-TALK).
