In episode 103 of the TigerTalk podcast presented by Northeast Mississippi Community College, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes Northeast instructor of commercial music and Campus Country director Chris Dunn to the podcast to talk about the group's upcoming Showtime on Thursday, February 27 entitled "Colder Weather." Dunn talks about a recent change to the ensemble where he added a non-traditional percussionist to the mix in 29-year-old Codey Nunley. Dunn also discusses the large amounts of duets in the Showtime on Thursday including a brother and sister pairing that will be taking the stage for a duet together. In addition to talking about the show, Dunn recalls some of the 'week of' jitters that may come up this week and tells a story about a former Campus Country member - Matt Nolan of the Spunk Monkees - who came in to help with sound for the show. The curtain opens on the Showtime at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 27 and admission is free to Northeast employees and students and is only $7 for the general public to have access to the 23-song setlist. In the closing interview, Kollmeyer sits down with NEMCC psychology instructor and co-advisor of the college's Scholar's Bowl team Stephanie Moore and Elizabeth Cowan, a standout on the Scholar's Bowl team, to talk about the successes that the Scholar's Bowl has had this year and their upcoming trip to the NAQT, LLC Community College Championship Tournament in Orlando, Florida at the end of the week. Moore discusses what it is like to lead an all-female team along with co-sponsor Eric Smith and Cowan delivers insight on what it is like to be on a Scholar's Bowl team. Cowan talks about the need for each team member to have their own specialty areas and team members to give way during competitions to those who know the subjects better than they do. Cowan also talks about the close-knit family-like atmosphere that the Scholar's Bowl team has will four of the five members eating lunch with each other almost every day and discussing different high-level intelligent conversations.Between the segments, Kollmeyer gives a rundown of events that are happening in the next 10 days and also mentions a few events to be on the lookout for later in the month.
