In this week's episode, Northeast president Ricky G. Ford shares information about many events happening on campus including the college's upcoming Spring Break. Ford gives a rundown on all the extracurricular activities such as baseball, softball, men and women's tennis, golf and archery all keeping the Sports Information Department at Northeast busy. Ford talks about the recent end to the men's and women's basketball seasons and how each competed in the NJCAA Region XXIII Tournament. In addition to talking about athletics, Ford gives a brief synopsis about the Strategic Doing committees on campus and the impact they are having when it comes to communication, safety, workforce and the needs of Northeast employees, students and community members. Ford reminds listeners of a return to normal at graduation this year with Health Sciences graduating on Thursday, May 12 and traditional graduation happening on Friday, May 13. Both commencement ceremonies will start at 6:30 p.m. instead of the usual 7 p.m. start time. Northeast will be busy following Spring Break with a myriad of events happening quickly with the high school art show wrapping up in the Anderson Hall Art Gallery on March 24, the annual Region IV Science Fair taking place on Friday, March 25; Advising Month and Advising Day on April 8, Honors Day and PTK Induction on April 18, Dual Enrollment Orientation on April 22 and regular orientation with four sessions a day at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on June 9, 16, 23 and if necessary on July 12. If all those events were not enough, Northeast is also focusing efforts on 2100 West Chambers Drive (old Corinthian Furniture) to help businesses rent out the building while the college draws up plans for a state-of-the-art conference center and home for career and technical education, workforce, continuing education and many other programs at the college.
